Robert "Bob" Petty, 92, went to heaven on January 2, 2018. He was born on August 15, 1925 at home in Fort Worth and passed away surrounded by family in his North Richland Hills home. He married Helen Pedigo on August 15, 1990 who shared the same passion for enjoying life and travelling to all four corners of the US and everywhere in between. His heart was always where his home was, which has always been his beloved State of Texas. He loved the beauty of the back roads and made it a point to go out of his way to take them as often as he could, regularly venturing to places like Mary's restaurant in Strawn, Texas.
Bob had a passion for the Lord and was ready to make the final journey and reunite with his daughter Kathy. He enjoyed fishing and boating on Lake Bridgeport, where he created wonderful memories for all his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He had a nickname for everyone and put a smile on every face he met. He is famous for the "One Eyed Dog Song" and his turkey calls. He retired from Bell Helicopter after 27 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his father James Alfred Petty, mother Ruth Harbick, and daughter Kathryn Ann Crews.
He is survived by his loving wife Helen and his children Michele Hopper, married to George, Lisa Pilgrim, married to Mike, Robert Petty, and Ruth, married to James Bennett. He was also very close to Helen's children Cliff Pedigo, married to Kay, and Carolyn Monk, married to Craig, whom he considered his own as well as their children and grandchildren. In all, 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
A viewing will be held at Shannon Funeral Chapel from 6-8 pm on Thursday, January 4th. The funeral will take place at 11 am at Harwood Terrace Baptist Church on Friday, January 5th with the burial immediately following at Smithfield Cemetery in North Richland Hills.
